What Season Of Life Are You Walking Through Today?
Have you ever paused to wonder why life feels so unpredictable—like sunshine one moment and a storm the next? Just as nature moves through seasons, so do our lives. And each season, no matter how uncomfortable or uncontrollable, serves a divine purpose.
A Time For Every Season
You may have heard this passage at a wedding or in the 1960s song “Turn, Turn, Turn” by The Byrds, but its truth is timeless:
Ecclesiastes 3:1–8
There is a time for everything,
and a season for every activity under the heavens:
a time to be born and a time to die,
a time to plant and a time to uproot,
a time to kill and a time to heal,
a time to tear down and a time to build,
a time to weep and a time to laugh,
a time to mourn and a time to dance,
a time to scatter stones and a time to gather them,
a time to embrace and a time to refrain from embracing,
a time to search and a time to give up,
a time to keep and a time to throw away,
a time to tear and a time to mend,
a time to be silent and a time to speak,
a time to love and a time to hate,
a time for war and a time for peace.

This scripture beautifully describes the seasons of life. We may walk through seasons of mourning and rejoicing, of peace and conflict, of new beginnings and unexpected endings, of good health and health challenges. One thing is certain: change is inevitable.

I love the way Joyce Meyer correlates Spring, Summer, Autumn, and Winter to the seasons we experience. This is a brief summary of her correlation:
SPRING: A Time of New Beginnings
Childhood, fresh starts, planting of seeds, opportunities…
SUMMER: A Time of Perseverance and Growth
Hard work, time, effort, spiritual maturity…
AUTUMN: A Time of Harvest & Gratitude
Reaping, celebrating, fruitfulness…
WINTER: A Time of Endings, Rest & Restoration
Closure, reflection, quiet trust…
The Four Truth's About Life's Seasons
1. Each season is temporary.
The cycle repeats—unless God Himself stops the process.
2. Each season has a purpose.
God may be teaching, growing, disciplining, or preparing us.
3. Our response to each season matters.
Our attitude in one season affects the next.
4. Rushing or clinging to any season can hinder growth.
We must recognize when it’s time to let go and step into the new.
When Seasons Are Hard
Let’s be honest—our first response to a difficult season is often to complain, resist, procrastinate, or push against the current. But, if you haven’t noticed, resisting God’s plan and timing only delays the blessing.
Look at the Israelites.
An eleven-day journey took forty years because they resisted, complained, and refused to trust God. Their delay wasn’t due to distance—it was due to attitude.
Think about your own life.
Haven’t your joyful or peaceful seasons often arrived after a difficult one? Every story in my book, Finding God in Your Life Story, involves a challenging situation that led to God’s presence, answered prayers, miracles, or blessings.
Pause and Reflect
- What season am I in right now?
- What is my attitude in this season?
- What could God be teaching me in this season?
- What actions do I need to take?
- How can I shift my attitude to bring this season to a timely, successful completion?
- Looking back at past seasons, how can you now see God’s hand?
Take a quiet moment with these questions, and let God speak.
A Gentle Reminder
Every season has its own issues. We can’t control them—but we can control our response, and we must avoid jealousy when others seem to be in a “better” season. They, too, cycle through the seasons, and their cycle will change, too.
Each season is ordained by God, purposeful for our journey, and woven into His sovereign plan and will for our lives.
A Closing Encouragement
God creates and directs every season of our lives. We may not like His timing, but nothing is random or accidental. Solomon, an Israeli king who authored several books in the bible, reminds us that when we cooperate with God’s purposes, even the hardest moments become beautiful in their time.
Choose to embrace both the difficult and the joyful seasons. Stay in communication with God through prayer (doesn’t need to be formal). Trust Him. And you will see the rainbow—His goodness revealed, in His timing and in His way.
I pray you find patience and peace in the season you’re in, knowing that God is with you, guiding each step. Whether you’re planting, growing, harvesting, or resting, you will find Him faithful.
